What is a major scale?
Major scales are built on notes separated by intervals of whole steps and half steps. Like walking up a staircase or a step ladder, we must take steps to reach all eight notes of our scale. Most of our steps will be whole steps, but between notes 3 -4 and 7 -8 those intervals will always use the smaller half step. That might be odd for a step ladder or a staircase, but in music it makes a Major Scale.
