Siku or Zampona Traditional Peruvian double rowed panpipes. Each row can be played by a seperate person or tied together and performed by one. To play a scale the player must jump between the rows. At the beginning of a fiesta, the instruments are given to the musicians as gifts for their participation, and many men in the ayllus have a collection of instruments from past years. After the fiesta however they can be treated quite casually and often lie broken or become playthings for the children. |
